Month: October 2023 (Page 2 of 3)

Sun-Mars Conjunction 2023

October has been a heated month, with increased tensions around the world. Astrologically, a big lead-up to this were the Eclipses happening this month. Eclipses always signal a time for big events, shifts and a certain degree of chaos. But boiling up in the background too was the build-up to a Sun-Mars conjunction.

The Sun has been approaching Mars since late September. But both planets will transit very close to each other from around October 31st until December 14th. They will form an exact conjunction next month, on November 18th.

With Mars being the planet of war and aggression, and the Sun being the vital force of the universe, this conjunction puts an emphasis on Martian matters and solutions. This is a strong time for conflicts, disagreements, clashes and violence.

On a mundane level, I expect talks of war and aggression to increase during this period, enveloping most of what remains of 2023. I specially highlight the period from November 15th to November 27th, when the exact conjunction of the planets will be in full effect.

Any planet too close to the Sun get obfuscated by his powerful rays, which amounts to a type of “defeat” for that planet. With Mars being the planet of competition, it doesn’t like defeat. So Mars becomes specially unhinged and combative by being too close to the Sun.

The conjunction will happen in Scorpio, the most vindictive of the signs, so there is a highly vicious energy emanating from this conjunction. A build-up of anger, a sense of injustice, will tend to dominate. Major aggressions, conflicts, protests and clashes could be prominent around late November. We are likely to see many aggravations around the world.

On a personal level, similarly, we could be dealing a lot with conflict. With people giving feisty responses, or generally tending towards more aggressive ways when dealing with problems. Remaining calm and not giving in to excessive anger is important now.

Lunar Eclipse in Aries (28/10/23)

Visibility: Africa, Middle-East, Europe, Asia, Australia, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean. Partially in North and South America, around the end of the eclipse.

Solar Eclipse at 10° Aries, Ashwini Nakshatra

An important point when analyzing eclipses and their effects is to understand that, generally, places where the eclipse is visible will see more effects than places where no visibility happens. It is also important to understand that eclipses have long sprawling effects, instead of immediate ones. New Moons and Full Moons affect the weeks around them, indicating monthly trends; Solar Eclipses and Lunar Eclipses affect the months around them, indicating yearly trends. The effects discussed below are things that will tend to happen in the next 6 months.

This eclipse will happen in Ashwini nakshatra, which is a star related to twin brothers that travel around the world, providing quick solutions and healing to people. Two big themes of this star are healing and speed. Common themes related to this star are medicine, communication, travel, innovation and quick solutions.

Ashwini deals with hastiness or rushed decisions, it shows a very impulsive side of Aries. In a lot of ways, this Lunar Eclipse will highlight this trend. With the Lunar Nodes in their final degrees, there is always a sense of rush and hurry to act. But specially in a fire sign, as with Rahu in Aries, there is a clear instability in the air. Following along, Mars will oppose Jupiter during the eclipse. This aspect promotes decisiveness and a sense of direction on the positive, but it also favors rushed and excessive action or aggressive trends.

So through this Lunar Eclipse, I believe we could see arbitrary and rushed actions being enacted into the world. A certain degree of heaviness will be felt in the air, and some injustices are possible with these energies.

On a personal level, this Eclipse signals a rushed or anxious energy. There is a strong nervous impulse dominating, from mid-October to mid-November. People can be very prone to obsessions, fears and unstable thoughts. Simplistic and childish excesses can arise out of this.

In a lot of ways, emotions are running high with this energy. We can be thinking and obsessing about long standing problems, and feeling rushed or anxious about finding a solution. Taking things slowly, detaching yourself, and finding time for a proper decision are key things right now.

Many of the energies related with this Lunar Eclipse promote rush. Although some flashes of luck could be possible under this influence, a lot of rushed actions made now could create regrets or trouble later on. So the best path now is to take an assessment of your emotions, and any problem areas uncovered, but only make a decision with a cooler head later on.
