Month: January 2024 (Page 1 of 3)

February 2024 in Astrology

February acts in part as a calm before the storm, and part as the beginning of something big. Let’s understand.

The calm before the storm comes because of the Eclipses in late March and early April. Eclipses are the big transformative events of astrology, so March will be packed full with this impulse of change. And before that comes, we have a calmer February.

The start of something comes from the alignment of many planets in one sign. January ends with that happening in Sagittarius, February will have that in Capricorn, and later on in Aquarius.

Many planets in the same sign is called a stellium, interpreting this type of combination is simultaneously easy and insanely hard. Simply put, if you have 4 or more planets in one sign, you will have a lot of that sign’s energies running in your life. What exactly that means, however, is the million dollar question.

In a natal chart, people usually interpret this to mean that the person will be or act very strongly in a way related to that sign. It can be, it happens sometimes. Where the personality becomes deeply entrenched on the stellium. But in my experience, it usually means that the themes of that person’s life will surround the impulses of that sign. Even if their personality doesn’t reflect much of the sign itself.

For some reason, my family tends to have a lot of stelliums, specially in Capricorn. I might be one of the few exceptions to this rule. But looking at the lives of the people with said focuses, not everyone is serious and contented as Capricorn would indicate. But all of those lives tend to have the basic Capricorn meaning, of strife and sacrifice, rising above and working hard.

Going back into the prediction, from early February until around March 8th, most of the planets will be either in Capricorn or Aquarius. Those are the Saturn signs, so February becomes a very karmic month. Not only that, but Saturn becomes a strong influence from February 5th until around April 23rd, making the months ahead a very karmic moment.

Combined with that, all the planets transiting through Capricorn will join Pluto. Pluto represents transformation, akin to the 8th house or Scorpio, representing shedding an old skin and rebuilding yourself. So February becomes an important moment of analysis, reflection and re-invention.

Mars in Capricorn, specifically, is very powerful. This is a great moment to get things done, to advance causes or to overall make things. Mars will be here from February 5th until March 15th. Mars conjunct Pluto around mid-February could show a time to rethink our actions, concentrating our efforts into what truly matters.

The New Moon this month happens on Dhanishta nakshatra, this star represents wealth and achievement. The New Moon will happen with a square to Uranus, showing challenging changes, or obstacles towards achievement. This could be the revelation of a need for a change of course.

The Full Moon this month happens in Magha nakshatra, a star that deals with connections with the past. It tends to represent talents, traditions or something from the past that comes back to influence the present.

The Full Moon happens as the Sun approaches a conjunction to Saturn, this annual conjunction always represents a low energy point. Saturn tends to drain the Sun, and things become somewhat dull or weakened. On that note, February ends in a lull because of this influence.

Summary

February precedes the Eclipses of March and April, so it could be a calm before the storm. Saturn is a very strong influence this month, and a prominent influence from now until around late April. Being the planet of karma, this is a very karmic moment, where we are tackling old issues and making peace with the past.

Mundane

  • Mars in Capricorn, specially conjunct Pluto, could signal a time for aggression or intensified conflict.
  • The New Moon could represent something being revealed, or something shocking coming out, as Uranus will be prominent.
  • The Full Moon will represent old issues, old wounds or old problems coming back on a mundane level.

Personal

On a personal level, the months ahead having a strong Saturn influence means that it is time to take responsibility. Take charge of our lives and problems, rather than be passive victims to it. This is a big theme of 2024 in general, actually.

Similarly, February will have most of the planets joining Pluto in Capricorn, so this becomes a great moment to shed an old skin in regards to our lives and projects. Changing the way we approach things can be a key point now. Change is never easy. In fact, a lot of times, it is a painful process. But shedding our old skin is the only way to transform and build something better and new.

Editorial Note

I just published my yearly predictions for 2024, kinda late, but still quite on time. The thing about publishing predictions is that the hardest part is not making them, but finding the best manner to present them. Something that is not only informative, but also easy to understand and digest.

I could’ve gone really detailed, and nit-picking, going month by month with every little event. But truth of the matter, in the end, we only remember the big things. So I focused on these. I discuss the main points that I believe will happen this year, rather than talking about every little thing that I find. Astrology is an analytical area, and you can always find more to analyze or say. Analysis never ends, unless you end it yourself.

Speaking of yourself, 2024 is a big year for this. As a lot of the energies this year deal with taking responsibility, dealing with the past, and moving on. Again, read the yearly prediction.

This month’s nakshatra will be Krittika, a star that represents the birth of Mars in Vedic mythology. As Mars will be exalted this month, I found nothing more fitting than talking about this nakshatra. I will publish that text in the first few days of the month. Also in February, I will publish on Mars and his placement in the signs of the birth chart, again, very fitting considering the transits.

2024 in Astrology

2024 could be divided into two Jupiter aspects. Jupiter conjunct Uranus, in the first half of the year, and Jupiter square Saturn, in the second half of the year. Of course, these two aspects are not everything, but they help summarize the year in two halves almost perfectly.

First Semester

The Jupiter-Uranus impulse, which I briefly discussed on my Jupiter in Aries predictions last year, promotes a moment of strong changes and beginnings. The aspect will be in effect around the first semester, mostly between March and June. This aspect will promote a time where people take strong stances, leaders make strong declarations and a fiercely defiant outlook tends to dominate.

With Rahu in Pisces, the first two eclipses of the year will happen around late March and early April. The Lunar Eclipse on March 25th will happen on Hasta nakshatra, a star that deals a lot with trickery, deceit, as well as technology and communication.

As I’ve said on my Rahu in Pisces predictions last year, this whole transit could deal with changes, and trouble, in the technological sector. The Lunar Eclipse follows along this trend, and I believe it could bring change in the sector. Maybe a downturn in sales, and hope, for the tech industry in regards to handheld devices. Similarly, we could see stronger pushes for regulation and governmental control over social media, AI and technology. A shocking event, related to technology and social media, could be used to push for stronger control and regulation.

The Solar Eclipse on April 8th is an interesting one, as it is also the Astrological New Year chart. The New Year chart sets the mood for the coming year, so the coincidence with an Eclipse means that this year has something important, or noticeable about it.

This usually means that themes and events that happen this year will tend to set the mood, or become prominent in the coming years. For instance, 2015 — last time this coincidence happened — had many events that became noticeable in the following years. 2015 had the Trump candidacy, and the following years were all about discussing him. 2015 had the early portion of the Brexit debacle, the following years had (from what I can recall by head) 3 different prime ministers dealing with the actual execution of it.

Of course, I do not mention this similarity to 2015 to say that things will be the same. The point here is to mention that the events in 2024 will likely stay with us for the coming years, becoming noticeable points of life in the coming years.

Going back to the Solar Eclipse itself, it happens in Revati nakshatra. This star is related to wealthy, powerful people or those that stand taller than others — like rulers or leaders. I believe this Eclipse tends to indicate some feelings of resentment towards people in power, as they appear to be detached from those below them. In some way, this Solar Eclipse will deal with conflict and toning down of those in power.

This will relate specially to the US, as both this coming Solar Eclipse in April and the previous one in October were visible in the country. This is a time of conflict, change and toning down of the country. Events internally and externally will reflect this.

Similarly, this Eclipse could show restrictions in regards to churches and religious institutions. Issues of corruption or scandal could arise now. Trouble in the Catholic Church could be a practical example of this.

Besides these main events above, there are some interesting background factors going on. For one thing, Saturn becomes a very strong influence from around early February until late April. This means a time of karmic events and a karmic backdrop going on.

On a personal level, this Saturn influence, combined with the prominent Pisces impulse of the Solar Eclipse signals a time for letting go of things. Taking responsibility, owning up and moving on in a way. Combined with a another transit I’ve discussed, the first months of 2024 are a strong time for dealing with old wounds and issues.

Post Eclipses

On May 1st, Jupiter will move into Taurus. Similarly, Uranus will enter Taurus on June 1st, remaining there until around December. Both planets in Taurus signal a time of material changes going forward. On a macro level, this deals with changes in the economy and how we deal with property, home ownership, etc. On a micro level, we might be rethinking our lives on practical terms. What we do, how we live, etc.

Second Semester

The second semester deals with Jupiter’s square to Saturn, this comes following the 2020 conjunction of the planets. As such, this year and 2025 deal with a review of all the things related to the beginning of this decade. Challenges, trouble and readjustment of prominent things around 2020 will tend to be noticeable now.

The first square will happen in August, a month that will be enveloped by Mercury Retrograde. So August could deal with going back over some matter of the past, and resettling old issues.

September and October will be the time for Eclipses. September 17th will have a Lunar Eclipse in Purva Bhadrapada. This is a fierce nakshatra with strong meanings, related to radical or extreme views, as well as some violent or shocking trends. The star also deals with duplicity, leading double lives, or hiding something. As this Eclipse will happen conjunct Neptune, this final meaning tends to come alive.

Around late September, shocking stories or events will come out to aggravate people. This could be a moment of strong emotions, and strong desire for action. The only problem, a lot of it will be exaggerated, or simply a lie.

Going along with this message, the following Solar Eclipse on October 2nd will happen in Hasta nakshatra, a star that has many meanings related to deception. It could be related to trickery, gambling or the used car-salesman archetype.

With both Eclipses dealing with deception and trickery, the late portion of 2024 deals a lot with illusions. It will be a time for strong emotions, aggravated people and excesses. Similarly, it will be a time for manipulation, as these strong emotions will be exploited.

On October 20th, Mars will enter Cancer, his sign of debilitation. This is where Mars is the weakest, and where it tends to behave more erratically. Mars will remain in Cancer from October 20th until January 21st. During that time, Mars will turn retrograde on December 6th, turning direct on February 23rd 2025.

As such, Mars will end 2024 and start 2025 in a unstable note. Being the planet of aggression, this could denote a time for conflict and turbulence. Violence, protests and war could come into play with this.

Summary

2024 has a strong trend towards launching things or setting the ground for the coming years, with events happening now becoming a key part for the rest of the decade. The whole year on itself has a knack for change, but the first part of the year will tend to be more electric and shocking.

There is a strong Saturn influence early in the year, so it becomes a karmic time, where we deal a lot with the past and grievances from it. The first eclipses of the year indicate shocking changes, obstacles for those in power, and a moment of readjustment.

The second part of the year has Uranus shifting into Taurus, signaling a time for material changes. So material issues become prominent, the economy, property ownership, land and agriculture, etc.

The final Eclipses of the year deal a lot with deception, shock and awe. So events around the final months of the year will tend to be shocking and aggravating. Things that rile up people or create anger. The year ends on an angry note too, as Mars will be transiting in a delicate spot, that deals a lot with conflict.

Overall, 2024 is a year of change, and the pleasures and pains that come with it.

On a Personal Level

2024 is a very karmic year, where both Saturn and the Pisces impulse are very strong. Pisces is the sign of detachment, letting go and moving on. Saturn is the planet of karma, taking responsibility and control.

So a big message for 2024 is facing the past, dealing with old wounds, but doing so in a constructive manner. The past can teach us a lot, if we allow it. The past can also destroy us, if we allow it.

The past destroys and becomes a crutch, if we get stuck on blaming others and making ourselves into an eternal victim. People hurt me, so I can never move on. Circumstances were against me, so I can never rise above — even after the circumstances changed.

The past can create by allowing us to see blockages, problems and what caused them. Fears that block us and become an obstacle to our happiness. Understanding these things allows us to move on, face these fears (even if in small steps) and build a new reality.
