Month: August 2024 (Page 1 of 2)

September 2024 in Astrology

September will be an interesting month, as we enter Eclipse season, with a Lunar Eclipse this month and a Solar one early in October. Eclipses always signal a time of tension, strong emotions and turning points. Along for the ride, September also has many other interesting aspects going on and promoting change.

But first, I’d like to take a flashback to last month’s predictions:

We will see a lot of issues from around 2020 making a comeback of sorts. The square flips the script, and people are much less receptive, or simply different, about the issues in question.

The above was written about Jupiter square Saturn aspect, which entered in effect last month. In a recent public letter, Mark Zuckerberg expressed regret over censorship issues around 2020. I reiterate this point, and I believe that in the coming months we will see more key 2020 issues coming back, specially with regrets and disavowing of past actions.

Going back to September, we start the month in a double shadow. Mercury just went direct on August 28th. Things are slowly coming back to normal, and we are adjusting. But Mercury is in a delicate position early September. Around the 4th and 5th of September, we can deal with turbulent communications or outright conflict.

From September 4th until the 13th, Mercury will transit Magha nakshatra. I consider this star to be the worst one for technology matters. During this transit, we can see some outages, data leaks and other issues happening. Some have already happened in early August, when it was retrograde in Magha. But we can see more issues being revealed now.

The second shadow is Uranus retrograde, as planets change directions, they slow down and leave a stronger impression in the world. With Uranus being a planet of change and revolution, early September is a strong time for sudden events, sudden developments and all kinds of shifts in the world.

Uranus is on the final leg of his Aries transit. Currently in Taurus, it will retrograde back into Aries in December this year. Entering Taurus again around March 2025, remaining in the sign until 2031. This final whiff of Aries will be more relevant later, but I think it’s important to mention it now.

Aries is all about feistiness and enthusiasm, so this end of the transit can be a time of great declarations and strong rhetoric. But what about results? Well, oh well.

Maybe they can happen, but not nearly as great as what was announced or promised. I’ve published a full text on Uranus in Aries, a year ago, where I went in more detail about this. But overall, I see this current transit in Aries as a time of rhetoric, with a total lack of actual follow-through.

The final months of 2024, and early 2025, will be filled with great promises. Great plans. Grand declarations. And not much actual consequences or accomplishments.

Going back to the shorter term, Uranus retrograde in Taurus, until December will put a focus on economic issues. Anger about the economy, inflation and finances will tend to dominate the conversation. Watch out as well for issues and revelations in regards to food in the next few months. Things like recalls, contamination or lack of quality.

The New Moon this month happens on Purva Phalguni, usually a calm and somewhat fun star to have a New/Full Moon, but it happens with complicated aspects around it. Reducing some of the benevolence.

First of all, Mercury will be gandanta, so it can show a time of complicated communications and provocative announcements. Second, it happens as the Sun approaches an opposition to Saturn. Said aspect, exact on Sep 8th, can show a time of conflict with leaders and those in power.

Also on September 8th, Mars aligns with the lunar nodes. This aspect will be in effect for most of the month, borrowing from the previous alignment in January:

On the positive, this is a good jolt of energy, great for getting out of a slump. On the negative, whenever Mars is prominent, it is a time of fighting. So arguments, aggressions and displays of force could figure late in the month.

With Mars in Gemini, the fighting can deal a lot with technology and communications. Issues around social media, censorship and regulation could become prominent this month. The aspect will be exact on the 16th, tagging along with the big event of the month, the Lunar Eclipse on the 17th.

The Lunar Eclipse happens in Purva Bhadrapada. This is a fierce nakshatra with strong meanings, related to radical or extreme views, as well as some violent or shocking trends. The star also deals with duplicity, leading double lives, or hiding something. As this Eclipse will happen conjunct Neptune, this final meaning tends to come alive.

Along with the other aspects discussed above, a lot shows September as a time of high rhetoric, aggravation and anger. Shocking events, provocations and illusions will tend to come out around this Eclipse.

After the Eclipse, the Sun will align towards an opposition to Neptune, highlighting yet again the trend towards illusions and inflammatory speech.

In the lamest segue ever, some good news! Venus will enter Libra on the 18th, leaving the debilitation sign of Virgo. This improves the mood on beauty, love and romance matters. Who cares about love with so much chaos in the world? Many people.

Back to the complicated stuff that you crave, let’s talk about October and some of the stuff coming that month.

Jupiter will turn retrograde on October 9th, going direct only on February 4th next year. Jupiter promotes hope and enthusiasm, Jupiter retrograde promotes skepticism. Specially in Taurus, people might be feeling uncertain or unsafe in these final months of 2024. As I’ve mentioned above about Uranus Retrograde in Taurus, economic issues and dissatisfaction will become prominent in the coming months.

Jupiter retrograde also tend to promote a wicked trend in judicial questions. Leading towards issues with corruption or biased judges. Going along with the Eclipses, and other aspects going on, this wickedness of Jupiter will lead towards aggravations and conflict in the coming months.

The Solar Eclipse happens in Hasta. A nakshatra that has many meanings related to deception. It could be related to trickery, gambling or the used car-salesman archetype. This nakshatra can also be related to technology, specially smartphones. This Eclipse in October similarly promotes matters of manipulation. So a lot points towards people being riled up late in 2024.

Summary

September and October promise to be hectic months, with the incoming Eclipses, as well as other aspects going on. On Eclipses, they are long spanning events, which tend to reveal themselves in the months surrounding them. In my view, the incoming Lunar Eclipse of September is already in effect in many levels.

A lot of that energy deals with violence, duplicitousness and deception. The Mars aspects of July and August showed this, with the Trump assassination attempt, as well as other feisty events around the globe. Notably, I mention the protests and violence in the UK. Where three young girls were stabbed to death while attending a dance class, in a small British town, many others were injured as well. Also worth mentioning the political violence in Venezuela, where violent repression is happening to those protesting against the regime there.

Both of the Eclipses deal with deception, the Solar one specially deals with manipulation. Along with other transits going on, the coming months can be inflammatory times, of strong rhetoric and conflict around the world.

In the coming months, issues regarding the economy will tend to be prominent. With inflation and other issues being strong on people’s lives and minds. We can also see issues in regards to food quality and delivery, with issues of supply or contamination. People can feel unsafe or insecure in regards to these matters.

Issues of censorship and regulation can also become prominent, in regards to technology and social media. Courts, judges and legislators will be specially related to this. Rogue and corrupt behavior is possible.

On the longer term, December will end the year with high rhetoric and people riled up. As of September, the temperature is rising, but things will become hotter with time.

A final point to be noted deals with Jupiter square Saturn, an aspect in effect from this August until around July 2025. It shows a turning point in regards to the matters of 2020-2021, when the conjunction of these two planets happened. Many issues of 2020 can come back now, with regrets and undoings.

Editorial

On a mundane level, this is a very complicated month. I believe this is the longest monthly prediction I’ve written, as I wanted to be through with the information. Similarly, in September and October, I will focus a lot more on mundane matters and issues. We will take a break from some of the natal subjects. This includes my nakshatra series.

I hate ambulance chasing, and this excessive focus into the present that plagues some astrologers. We are supposed to see the future, the macro, the big picture. The combined influences of past, present and future.

And yet, a lot of astrologers are addicted to their newsfeeds, and parrot what they see there. Journalists say that every story is the most important one yet, the one that will change the world forever, because that sells. Notice how the most important election ever in the US is happening, as it did in 2020, as well as 2016 — probably in 2012 too, but I wasn’t paying that much attention at the time.

If each and every election is the most important one ever, none of them are, as they all become equal in the hysteria quality you assigned them.

I talk about the present, I talk about the issues (many times chaos) happening in the now. But I never build sandcastles around it. Because I never lose sight of the future.

Everything in the now seems bigger than it is. What was your biggest problem a year ago? Can you remember? If yes, can you remember details? Either way, it is just not that vivid anymore. At the time, it felt like death, it felt horrible. Now it is a faint memory, and you’re still here, everything is fairly normal.

This is the perspective I want to transmit. The present matters, but there is always a future. We are in a very volatile moment, so it becomes easy to build illusions around this, making things bigger than they are. Losing sight of the calm after the storm.

So in the next two months, I will talk a lot about mundane matters, specially longer term trends. I want to put things in perspective, explain what is happening, rather than just parroting the daily anxiety fuel you can get from any news site.

Personal

On a personal perspective, September is a month where we can feel a strong urge for change and transformation, specially towards finding something new and different. Doing something we haven’t done before. This is a great time to discover new things, new perspectives, and learn more about yourself.

On the Eclipses, I have a full text on their personal effects. I recommend checking if any of the planets in your chart will be affected by the Eclipses.

Questions, August 2024

Order and chaos, a few editorial questions and doubts about people and conversations.

See the previous Q&A here.

Only Talks Money

"what makes a person a golddigger who only talks about money ?"
Name: rosie

Short answer: Only talks about money? Probably a Scorpio.

Long answer:

The 3rd house represents what we tend to talk about. For instance, Leo loves talking about arts, movies and beauty. The third house is Libra, ruled by Venus, a sign that deals a lot with the fine and pretty things of life.

Similarly, all water signs have their third house being an earth sign. Earth is mainly concerned with stability, resources and money.

Cancer has practical Virgo as the 3rd house, so it talks a lot about getting things done. Pisces has Taurus, which is the sign of money, but Venus (ruler of Taurus) can steer things away; focusing more on arts and beauty.

Scorpio has business oriented Capricorn, and Scorpio naturally deals with the 8th house of other people’s money, so it all becomes money.

  • “he does this this and that, he also has that company that sells…”
  • “he has so much money, people can’t screw with him”
  • “he never loses money”

Those are all phrases I’ve heard in conversation with Scorpios. Whenever somebody gave me a financial rundown of a stranger’s life, I would always find a Scorpio Moon when approximating their birthday on my phone. The only time it wasn’t, it was a Scorpio Ascendant, the scorpioness showed me her birthtime.

I really don’t understand the allure of it. To me, the only money that matters is the one I can use. If I can’t turn it into coffee, booze and debauchery, it is irrelevant money in my book.

But the cuddly scorpions love this subject, and they love steering conversations towards it. I’ve recently been in a conversation, originally about cats and dogs, that became about some random youtuber’s finances. All thanks to a Scorpio. I will never understand it. I would rather give a colonoscopy to a dog than discuss some random youtube-person’s money, but hey, some people are into it. Scorpios.

On that note, if you want to approach a Scorpio, having gossip about some rando’s finances is a good ice-breaker.

Pisces

"youre very negative about pisces"
Name: nienke

Short answer: No, I don’t think so.

Long answer:

In my writings and studies, I always like to go against the grain, even if just a little, to balance out the excesses and issues in the consensus. There is always nuance, and nuance is always lost when you reach a consensus. Why? Because people start repeating the same phrases and statements, but without the proper background knowledge.

On signs, a lot of the mainstream pop astrology opinions on them come from a woman named Linda Goodman — I covered her biography briefly on my Revati text. The thing is a lot of people nowadays have no idea who she is, yet they still repeat her ideas, why?

Because people learned from her, made their own derivative works, and the world moved on. A mom read a pop astrology book in the 90s, based on Linda’s book from the 60s. Her daughter read a Tumblr post in 2014, based on a 2005 website, based on that 90s book. This will all lead to a TikTok, which will inspire the next generation.

With signs, we have a general consensus that tends to demonize certain signs, like Aries and Gemini. And sanctify others like Pisces and Aquarius. Why?

Aquarius is said to represent astrology, and a lot of western astrologers are born under tropical Aquarius. So there is this bias. But that isn’t the actual main reason.

Some astrologers believe that each sign shows a higher point of human evolution. With Aquarius and Pisces being the last signs, they are seen as holy and superior influences. This comes mostly from Esoteric Astrology, from the times of Madame Blavatsky.

Similarly to the Linda — poor old Linda, she was a fine lady, I would have had a glass of wine with her — situation above, a lot of people repeat Esoteric Astrology lore, without having read or even heard about it. Again, the derivative works, the beat goes on, etc.

My opinion? I’ve met the scum of the earth, and angels too, of all signs. I don’t buy the holiness of Pisces. Sorry, I am not sorry.

I will keep writing the complicated, weird, negative and bad side of Pisces — and everything else, for that matter. It exists, it needs to be discussed, and it helps people.

I’ve received feedback on some of my Nakshatra texts, people identifying with the negative sides, and finding some sense of peace. Understanding why they tend to act in certain manners, can be key to dealing with it. An Anuradha lady told me she finally understood why she kept so many bad friends around.

Back to Pisces, the sign has more defects and issues than “loving too much”, as some tend to say. And I will write about them. As long as a meteor doesn’t kill me, I will write about it. To those used to the ass-kissing and “they are so evolved”, it will sound unfair, not much I can do about it.

Ketu in the 2nd house transit

"what does ketu in 2nd house transit mean?i read it can show poverty"
Name: 宇轩

Ketu’s transit shows an area of detachment, where we are letting go and releasing ourselves from something. For instance, in the 1st house or with the Moon, it can show letting go of personal blockages. Letting go of a fear, a limitation, etc. Someone scared of public speaking could decide to let go, and face their fear, for example.

The 2nd house denotes money, finances, keeping and storing resources. Ketu’s letting go certainly doesn’t sound attractive here. Letting go of “keeping resources” can mean spending more money, instead of saving it.

In my experience, this is usually the time when people tend to make extravagant purchases or more lavish expenses. Getting a new phone, new TV, new car, etc.

Specially with people who tend to save money, this can be a surprising time looking back. As you spend your whole life saving, putting up with old stuff to avoid spending, and suddenly you don’t bother letting go and using your money.

For people who spend money carelessly already, this transit will exacerbate that, so they should try finding someone to advise them — or even nanny them — to avoid breaking the bank.

But overall, for the average person, this transit will show increased expenses. Usually pleasurable or desirable for them. A slight dent, or lack of growth, in their savings. But nothing radical like poverty.

Order and Chaos

"in what order are you publishhing the nakshatras? im curious"
Name: blue

Short answer: Order? There is no order, just chaos.

Long answer:

When I started this site, I planned on publishing them in the vanilla order. My first two published ones were Ashwini and Bharani. Then I had to go into Krittika, and I got slightly annoyed with following the order. So I ended up going: Ashwini, Bharani, Ashlesha, Swati, Purva Phalguni, Ardra, Uttara Bhadrapada, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta [actually followed the order here, but not intentionally], Purva Bhadrapada, Revati, Krittika, Anuradha, Shatabishak, Mula, Punarvasu and Vishakha this month.

Completely out of order. After the first two, I just decided to do “the one I felt like doing” at a particular moment. And I find it a great decision!

My process in writing these texts is flipping through my messy notes on each of these nakshatras, and turning them into something that other people can read and understand, unlike my notes. I usually write one every month, sometimes more, sometimes less.

Vishakha is kinda of a frozen lasagna in that sense. July was a hectic month for me, as sadly August has also been, so I couldn’t really get going with the nakshatra I had decided on doing. But earlier in the year, I made Vishakha as an extra. It came in really handy now.

On the bumped nakshatra of August, it is funny to me. Because it isn’t the first time I’ve bumped it. This is either the second or third bump. Bummer, specially because I’m considering doing other nakshatras instead of the bumped one now. I felt like doing it, I no longer feel like doing it.

But I think this lack of order is great, for a few reasons.

The first point is the reality of people and astrology. Give someone a book, or reference, what is the first thing they will check? Their own placements. If they are a Cancer, they will check Cancer first. If they are a Sagittarius, it will be Sagittarius. If they are Revati, it will be Revati. People want to see their own first, without much care for the order.

“I wrote this in the most beautiful and perfect order”, cute, but people will just read their own thing first.

The second point is lazy writing and school-teacher-esque writing. As we recall from the last class. As we recall from the last lecture. As we saw in the last one. Those recollection devices that assume you saw all the lectures. I don’t like to assume that. As we recall. Who is we? I cut class that day to read an astrology book. I also have no desire to be a part of a we involving you!

As explained above, people will just read their own thing first. So if you assumed they read the previous one, you assumed wrong. They don’t have the knowledge you expect them to have.

I hate these assumptions and literary devices, I avoid them like the plague. I like to use informed comparisons instead. I compare, I link to a previous text, but I give a short explanation of why the comparison. Even if you haven’t read the text, you can still understand it.

Reading in whichever messy order it pleases you, you will still be able to understand it. Because one text doesn’t rely on another one to be understood. And that is a great thing.

Charts are rarely orderly. Many times they are messy, with conflicting influences. Getting used to finding order, in a lack of order, is an essential skill to any astrologer. I think I do a good job in teaching that.

I got no questions from Lasagna this time, I miss Lasagna.
