Lunar Eclipse in Libra (05/05/23)

Lunar Eclipse at 20° Libra, Vishaka Nakshatra

Visibility: Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Antarctica.

An important point when analyzing eclipses and their effects is to understand that, generally, places where the eclipse is visible will see more effects than places where no visibility happens. It is also important to understand that eclipses have long sprawling effects, instead of immediate ones. New Moons and Full Moons affect the weeks around them, indicating monthly trends; Solar Eclipses and Lunar Eclipses affect the months around them, indicating yearly trends. The effects discussed below are things that will tend to happen in the next 6 months.

As I’ve mentioned on my monthly prediction, this Lunar Eclipse deals a lot with power and change. Vishaka is a star ruled by Indra and Agni, two deities associated with power, making this a nakshatra strongly related to achievement and accomplishment. Vishaka shows a goal oriented persona, where a native does everything necessary to achieve his goal, regardless of a hard journey or the consequences to him and others.

Combined with that, Pluto just went retrograde on May 1st, and transits very slowly in the skies. Whenever a planet transits slowly, it leaves a more intense mark on us. As the Lunar Eclipse happens with a opposition to Uranus, it relates a lot to change and transformation in regards to power.

On a mundane level, protests around the globe and opposition to those in power will tend to intensify in the next few months. A noticeable example are the current protests against Macron in France. With the waning transit of Mars in Cancer, conflict could intensify a lot on the political front.

On a personal level, I usually notice that Lunar Eclipses are much more emotional experiences than the Solar Eclipses. Usually, people feel more on edge and fragile around the Lunar Eclipses. So if you are feeling out of sorts now, just know that things will tend to improve and get clearer in the coming days. Overall, the strong Aries emphasis on the skies right now are inspiring us to act, create and move. So this Lunar Eclipse could be a strong catalyst for change in our lives, finding the courage and the strength to make things happen.

Solar Eclipse in Aries (20/04/23)

Visibility: South/East Asia, Australia, Pacific, Indian Ocean, Antarctica.

Solar Eclipse at 05° Aries, Ashwini Nakshatra

An important point when analyzing eclipses and their effects is to understand that, generally, places where the eclipse is visible will see more effects than places where no visibility happens. It is also important to understand that eclipses have long sprawling effects, instead of immediate ones. New Moons and Full Moons affect the weeks around them, indicating monthly trends; Solar Eclipses and Lunar Eclipses affect the months around them, indicating yearly trends. The effects discussed below are things that will tend to happen in the next 6 months.

This eclipse will happen in Ashwini nakshatra, which is a star related to twin brothers that travel around the world, providing quick solutions and healing to people. Two big themes of this star are healing and speed. Common themes related to this star are medicine, communication, travel, innovation and quick solutions.

Solar Eclipse Chart

The Eclipse will square Pluto closely, which indicates political issues or matters related to power and control. Mercury is about to turn retrograde, on the 21st, and in a very tight conjunction with Uranus, the planet of sudden change and transformation. Jupiter is about to switch signs, entering Aries also on the 21st. In Aries, Jupiter will join Rahu. Jupiter-Rahu is a transit that always shows a time of volatility and sudden changes, specially in regards to politics and the economy. It last occurred in 2016, a very politically turbulent year around the world.

I tend to believe that, on a mundane level, this solar eclipse is signaling a strong moment for changes in power. New systems, new solutions and new dynamics will tend to come out of this. A clear example of this shift are the countries abandoning the dollar in favor of trading in their own currencies. We might see stronger shifts in this regard in the coming months, specially around South Asia.

Some shifts in the production of computer chips (processors, etc.) are also possible. Considering the factor of Mercury, I believe some production issues and delays could come into play later in 2023.

On a personal level, this eclipse is very interesting towards solving or healing long standing issues in our lives. Ashwini is all about healing and quick solutions, so this could be a time where we find a solution to a big problem in our lives. This is a good moment for problem solving and making positive changes. We could, however, be clashing with someone wanting to control or impose their will on us. This could be the time where we release ourselves from the domain of something or someone holding us back.

For those with planets in Aries or Libra, these changes will be very prominent and noticeable, as I explain on my guide to eclipses. But the rest of us can benefit by understanding the message of this eclipse and working with it.
